DBU series finale called in the bottom of the sixth

CARBONDALE, Ill. - The third game of the Southern Illinois vs. Dallas Baptist baseball game, which was suspended in the bottom of the sixth inning on Saturday night, will not be continued. Since the teams had completed five innings, the game is completed and all records and statistics count. Dallas Baptist won the game, 7-1, and the series, 2-1.
The teams intended to resume the game at 12 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, but could not find an opening in the weather long enough to complete the game.
"We felt we had a large enough break to finish the game, but not large enough of a break for both teams properly warm up and play," SIU head coach Ken Henderson said. "If we had an on-site indoor facility and could have been prepared to start when the rain stopped, I am confident we would have finished the game."
Southern Illinois hosts Illinois on Tuesday, May 2, at 6 p.m. CT in Itchy Jones Stadium. The Salukis are looking for a three-game season sweep over the Illini after winning twice in Champaign earlier this year.
