Saluki student-athletes post highest term GPA on record in spring 2017

Southern Illinois student-athletes posted a cumulative 3.241 GPA in the spring 2017 semester, the highest department-wide term GPA on record. Sixty-seven student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 term GPA, and 71 percent of the student-athletes earned at least a 3.0 GPA.

Fourteen of the 16 programs earned a team-wide GPA of 3.0 or better, led by women's golf, which posted a 3.719 team GPA. The men's tennis team posted a 3.378 GPA, which was the highest for a men's program at SIU.

In 2016-17, Southern Illinois had five student-athletes earn the MVC Elite 18 Award, which tied a conference record. The baseball program set a program record with a 3.337 team-wide GPA during the spring 2017 semester.
