Annual Saluki 5K set for Sept. 30

Saluki Athletics, in association with The Southern Illinoisan, will host the seventh annual Saluki 5K on Sat., Sept. 30. Check-in starts at 7:30 a.m. and the race begins at 8:30 a.m. In the evening, Saluki Football hosts Missouri Valley Football Conference foe Northern Iowa in the annual Family Weekend and Black Out Cancer game at 6 p.m. in Saluki Stadium.
The Saluki 5K will give participants a scenic run around the SIU campus with a chance to take in views of Saluki Athletics facilities, as well as Campus Lake and other natural features on campus. The race ends in Saluki Stadium, where runners can watch themselves on the video board as they cross the finish line.
Runners can register prior to the event by filing out The Southern's online registration form (Click-Here). Race Day registration will close at 8:15 a.m. to allow for chip timing crew adjustments.
Registration fees for the event are as follows:
Early Registration
Individual - $30
Team (four-person) - $25/person
Student rate (youth, high school or college) - $25
Raceday Registration
Individual - $35
Team (four-person) - $30/person
Student rate (youth, high school or college) - $30
The first 200 runners to sign up are guaranteed to receive an Under Armour Saluki Kickoff 5K T-shirt. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Saluki Tickets for Kids program.
