Frankie Thomas named MVC Golfer of the Week

Southern Illinois sophomore Frankie Thomas was named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday. Thomas tied for 12th place out of 75 golfers at the Iowa Golfweek Conference Challenge at Cedar Rapids Country Club. Thomas recorded his best tournament finish (-2 at 69-71-74=214) at SIU since tying for sixth place in his Saluki debut in September of 2016 at Murray State. He was second overall in the field with 14 birdies.
Southern Illinois finished in 11th place out of 15 teams against a field that featured 10 teams that were ranked in the top 100 at the end of last season.
