The Southern Illinois men's golf team stands tied for 11th place today out of 16 teams after the first round of competition at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in Zionsville, Indiana.

Kentucky leads the field after shooting an even-par round of 284. The Salukis are 22 strokes off the pace and in a three-way tie with Toledo and Bowling Green.

Competing in his first Division I collegiate tournament, junior college transfer Hunter York led the Salukis with a 3-over par score of 75. He birdied four holes and finished the round tied for 29th place out of 82 competitors.

Round two will be played and Saturday, followed by the final round on Sunday.
