
Salukis tangle with No. 19 Arizona State on Saturday

Salukis vs. Ranked Opponents
- This marks the 44th time (since 1981-82) that the Salukis have taken on a team ranked in the Top-25.
- SIU is 7-36 all-time against foes ranked in the Top-25.
- Southern's last win over a ranked opponent came on a neutral floor- an 81-64 win over North Carolina State at the Stanford Classic on Dec. 19, 1991.
- This will be the second time that SIU has faced a ranked opponent in Las Vegas. Southern took on No. 17 UNLV 28 years ago on Nov. 24, 1990- a 78-55 loss.
- This is the third time that the Salukis have tangled with a ranked foe in the Cindy Stein-era. Southern fell to No. 16 Oregon State, 71-55 on Dec. 19, 2014 and lost at No. 16 Oklahoma, 80-48 on Nov. 13, 2016.
- Saturday's matchup will be the 11th time (1-10) that SIU has taken on a ranked foe at a neutral site.
- SIU spent 14-straight weeks ranked in the top-20 during the 1986-87 and 1987-88 seasons, rising as high as No. 13. A loss at Illinois on Dec. 9, 1988 pushed the Salukis out of the top-20.
All-time vs. the Sun Devils
- Saturday's contest will mark the third-ever meeting between the Sun Devils and the Salukis and the first since 1993.
- The two teams split the two previous meetings with Southern winning the most recent matchup- a 73-57 win on Dec. 20, 1993 inside SIU Arena.
All-time vs. the PAC-12
- The Salukis are 4-8 all-time against current PAC 12 teams.
- Southern's last win over a PAC 12 team is also the last time they defeated Arizona State.
Scouting the Sun Devils
• The Sun Devils opened the season ranked No. 23 and have since climbed to No. 19.
• Arizona State lost at the buzzer Friday against No. 5 Louisville.
• Sophia Elenga led the Sun Devils in scoring in the loss to Cardinals, as she had 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
• Kiana Ibis leads the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game.
The more the merrier
• Southern has had at least three scorers reach double figures in all five games this season and have had four tally double-digit points in four of five games this season.
Ball Movement is Key
• The Salukis had three players dish out five or more assists in a game for the second time this season, as Brittney Patrick (6), Abby Brockmeyer (5) and Payton McCallister (5) all did so against Hartford.
• Southern also had three players record five or more assists against UT Martin - which was the first time it had happened since 1989.
