CARBONDALE, Ill. -Â Registration is now open for the Southern Illinois University baseball program's 2018Â Saluki Baseball Camp at Itchy Jones Stadium on the SIU campus. The camp is open to all baseball players between the ages of 7-13 and will run from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. from Monday, June 11Â through Thursday, June 14. Check in will take place June 11Â from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Itchy Jones Stadium.
Campers will learn hitting, bunting, base running, defense and pitching along with specific position work and supervised game activity at the Salukis' brand new home facility. The Saluki Baseball Camp staff includes SIU head coach Ken Henderson, associate head coach P.J. Finigan and assistant coach Seth LaRue. In addition the staff will also include Saluki baseball players, high school and college coaches.
The cost to register is $195 for an individual and $175 per person for teams of six or more. In addition to instruction, participants will receive a camp T-shirt, and lunch will be provided each day of the camp. Many former campers have experienced success at the high school level and gone on to play college and professional baseball.
