CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa. – The No. 1-ranked Southern Illinois men's golf team travels to Cedar Rapids, Iowa this weekend to play in the Golfweek Conference Challenge hosted by University of Iowa.
The team traveling this week features Matthis Besard, Luke Gannon, Frankie Thomas, Peyton Wilhoit, and Vikar Jonasson.

Last weekend, Besard won the Indiana Fuzzy Zoeller Intercollegiate and led wire-to-wire after shooting a first-round 66 (-6). Junior Frankie Thomas and senior Luke Gannon finished No. 2 and No.3 to help secure the win. Besard, Thomas, and Gannon are all currently ranked in the Top 25 Men's Collegiate Individual (via Golfweek).

The other teams competing in the Golfweek Conference Challenge this weekend include Arkansas State, Ball State, Boston College, Campbell, Dayton, Furman, Iowa, Jacksonville, Jacksonville State, Kansas State, Loyola Marymount, Sacramento State, San Jose State, UCLA, and UTEP. Six of the 16 teams are ranked in the Top 50 Men's Team Collegiate (via Golfweek). Four of those teams are ranked in the Top 25, including No. 1 SIU and No. 2 Campbell.

Golfweek Conference Challenge takes place at the Cedar Rapids Country Club on the renowned Donald Ross course built in 1915 by Donald Ross and restored in 2011 by Ron Prichard. The tournament will consist of 18 holes played on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for a total of 54 holes. There will be split tee times starting at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday and Monday with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday.
