Game Notes vs. Mo. State

CARBONDALE, Il.. -- The Southern Illinois University volleyball team returns to Davies Gym Monday to host travel partner Missouri State in a MVC clash. First serve is set for 6 p.m.

All-time vs. Missouri State

• Missouri State leads the all-time series with the Salukis, 56-20.
• Missouri State has won five-straight, and seven of the last eight meetings, in a rivalry that dates back to 1975. • Southern's last win over Missouri State came on Sept. 26, 2016, when Southern rallied from a first-set loss to defeat the Lady Bears in five sets.
• 14 of Southern's 20 wins in the series have come on its home court, including a 3-2 win over Missouri State inside Davies Gym on Oct. 5, 2015.

Serving up aces

• SIU served up nine aces in its five-set match against Indiana State on Saturday, which was its second-most in a MVC match this season.
• The Salukis have 126 aces through 22 matches- which is already their most aces in a season since 2016.
• Katy Kluge's 28 aces are not only the most by a Saluki since Andrea Estrada in 2016 but are also the third-most in the MVC this season.

Injuries taking their toll

• The Salukis have had nine of the 16 players on their roster miss significant playing time this season due to injury.
• 14 different Salukis have played in at least one set and 11 Salukis have started at least one match.

Connecting with the middles

• Both of Southern's middles, Emma Baalman and Lindsey Paulsen rank in the top-10 in the MVC in hitting percentage
• Baalman ranks third and Paulsen sits at ninth.
• This past weekend, the duo combined to hit .315.
• Baalman hit .538 with eight kills and one error against the Purple Aces, while Paulsen hit at a .429 clip with a career-high tying 15 kills versus the Sycamores.

Leading the Nation

•Rachel Maguire leads the nation in triple-doubles with nine.
•She recorded her ninth triple-double of the season in SIU's four-set win over Drake on Oct. 4 with 10 kills, 18 assists and 12 digs.
•Her nine triple-doubles are not only the most by a Missouri Valley Conference player since at least 2015, but are the third-most in a single-season in the NCAA over at least the past five seasons.
•Rachel Maguire's next triple-double will tie her with Meg Viggars (10) for the most triple-doubles in a career in school history.

Don't throw in the towel

• The Salukis played their eighth five-set match this season Saturday against Indiana State, which is the most in the MVC.
•The school record for most five-set matches in one season is 11, set during the 1982 season when Southern played 36 matches.
•The Salukis are 129-111 (.539) all-time in five set matches since 1976.

200-Kill Mark

• Savannah Sheridan put down a career-high 18 kills in SIU's win over Tennessee Tech on Sept. 21.
• Sheridan, who did not play volleyball last year after sitting out a year, has put down 10-or more kills in 11 matches this season, including a streak of four-straight matches from Sept. 6-10.
• Sheridan reached the 200-kill mark for the season against Indiana State and joins Rachel Maguire in this season's 200-kill club.

Unsung Hero

• Hannah Becker has played all three front row positions this season and has had a career year.
• The Polk City, Iowa native has put down double-digit kills in eight matches this season, including in back-to-back matches for just the second time in her career against Evansville/Indiana State.
