CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Southern Illinois Salukis (4-8-1 overall) fell to the Southeast Missouri Redhawks (7-4) on Sunday afternoon in Cape Girardeau, 2-0.
The Salukis and Redhawks both pressured offensively throughout the match, with SEMO firing off the first shot. Sophomore Maya Warrior fired the first Saluki shot off in 11th minute, but the Redhawks scored first with a goal in the 18th minute from Hailey Block, her third of the season.
SIU tried to even things up with a shot from junior Natalie Bethers in the 27th minute but was unable to hit the back of the net. SEMO fired off four more shots throughout the half but was kept out of the goal before time expired in the first half.
