
Kavion Pippen signs with Warriors

SAN FRANCISCO - Southern Illinois alumnus Kavion Pippen signed a free agent contract with the Golden State Warriors, the team announced Monday. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.
Pippen, 22, averaged 12.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.66 blocks in 65 games (63 starts) over two seasons at SIU. The 6-10 center was a two-time All-MVC selection and earned a spot on the MVC All-Defensive Team during his senior season. The Hamburg, Ark., native attended Three Rivers Community College prior to enrolling at SIU.
As a senior in 2018-19, Pippen led the Salukis in total points and rebounds. He recorded six 20+ point games and scored in double-figures 20 times. His career field goal percentage (55.5%) ranks seventh all-time at SIU and is the best for any player since 2008. Despite only playing two years at SIU, his 108 career blocks rank fifth all-time.
