Coats for Kids returns to Saluki Basketball this fall

The Southern Illinois University Department of Athletics is co-sponsoring a "Coats for Kids" coat drive this holiday season.Â
The "Coats for Kids" initiative is a collaborative effort between Carbondale's Police Department and Saluki Athletics that hopes to provide area children with winter coats. The donated coats will benefit the children served by the Carbondale Police Department Community Christmas Store.
Fans are encouraged to donate new or gently used coats of any size in an effort to help our Southern Illinois neighbors that are in need during the cold winter months.Â
Saluki Athletics will team up with Carbondale Police to collect coats during the Saluki basketball games, beginning with Tuesday's men's basketball season opener against Illinois Wesleyan. A full list of collection dates is below.Â
Coats will also be accepted for donation at the Carbondale Police Department, 501 S. Washington Street, and Banterra Center, Charles Helleny Pavilion until December 10.
Last year, the "Coats for Kids" drive collected over 100 coats. This year's goal, in honor of 150 years of SIU, is 150 coats.Â

11/5- Men's Basketball vs Illinois Wesleyan @ 7 pm
11/16- Women's Basketball vs Tennessee Tech @ 2 pm
11/16-Men's Basketball vs San Francisco @ 7 pm
11/20- Women's Basketball vs Memphis @ Noon
11/26- Men's Basketball vs NC Central @ 7 pm
11/27-Women's Basketball vs St. Louis @ 6 pm
12/3- Women's Basketball vs UT Martin @ 6 pm
12/4- Men's Basketball vs Illinois State @ 3 pm
