The eight All-Conference picks were the most for SIU since 2009.
Southern Illinois reaped the benefits of an upper-division finish in the Missouri Valley Football Conference with the announcement on Monday of the All-Conference teams. The No. 25-ranked Salukis, who finished 7-5 overall and tied for third place at 5-3 in the league standings, had eight All-Conference selections and three honorable mention picks — the most for the program since 2009.
Headlining the list of all-league picks was safety Jeremy Chinn, who earned first-team honors for the second time in his illustrious career. The senior and Buck Buchanan Award finalist led the team with four interceptions. He also had 71 tackles and has already accepted an invitation to Senior Bowl.
