
Diving concludes season at Zones

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Southern Illinois divers Beibei Ji, Baobao Ji and Kai Hoffmann-Dussome closed out their 2018-19 season at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championship inside the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
All three individuals competed in the one- and three-meter diving events and tallied top-35 finishes in each event. The championship meet featured many of the top divers in the nation from 25 different schools.
Beibei earned the top finish of the weekend for the Salukis in the one-meter dive. The three-time Missouri Valley Conference champion posted the 17th-best score (253.45) in the one-meter prelims to clinch a trip to the finals. Beibei climbed to 15th overall in the finals with a total score of 519.75.
The junior placed 21st in the three-meter dive prelims with a score of 260.20, which was just fell shy of a finals bid.
Baobao was close behind Beibei in both diving events. She took 21st in the one-meter prelims with a score of 253.45 and 23rd in the three-meter prelims with a score of 257.95.
In men's action, Hoffmann-Dussome competed in his first NCAA Zones meet. The junior finished 34th (238.30) in the one-meter prelims and 29th (271.75) in the three-meter prelims.
NCAA Zones was the final meet of the season for the Saluki divers. On the season, divers tallied 26 wins and five top-three finishes at the MVC Championships.
