The Southern Illinois baseball team wraps up a five-game road stretch with a 4 p.m. game at Austin Peay on Tuesday. The Governors are wrapping up a five-game home stand. The teams are playing the back half of an in-season home-and-home series, with the Salukis winning 3-2 at Itchy Jones Stadium earlier this year. The teams have each been good in mid-week action -- the Salukis are 7-1 in mid-weeks and Austin Peay is 5-3.

Southern Illinois travels to Austin Peay to wrap up a five-game road swing. The Salukis and Governors will start at 4 p.m.
SIU won the first meeting between the schools this year. The Salukis overcame an early 2-0 deficit and scored two runs in the eighth inning to win, 3-2. The Salukis have won three-straight in the series.
Southern is 7-1 in mid-week games this year and have won five-straight mid-weeks. Dating back to the start of the 2018 season, SIU is 17-4 in mid-week games.
SIU is 12-4 at home this year but just 5-11 on the road. The APSU game wraps up a five-game road swing. after that, SIU plays 13 of the final 19 regular season games at Itchy Jones Stadium.
SIU freshman Matthew Steidl is making his third start of the season. In two starts, Steidl has pitched eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits while striking out four. He has limited opponents to a .111 average over his two starts, both of which the Salukis won.
SIU has stolen 88 bases, which ranks sixth in the nation.
SIU has hit 23 sacrifice flies, which ranks sixth the nation. Ian Walters ranks third in the nation with seven sacrifice flies.
Trey McDaniel ranks sixth in the NCAA with nine saves, which also leads the Missouri Valley Conference. SIU bullpen coach Ryan Netemeyer led the MVC in saves each of the past two seasons. If McDaniel leads the MVC in saves this year, SIU will be the first Valley program since Wichita State (1997-01) to have a player leads the MVC in saves three-straight seasons.
