Men's Golf in 12th place after one round at NCAA Regionals

After one round at the NCAA Regionals in Louisville, Kentucky, the Southern Illinois men's golf team stands in 12th place out of 13 teams. The teams will play single rounds on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the top five finishers advancing to the NCAA Championships.
Auburn (-8) leads the field, edging Oklahoma State (-6), Baylor (-4) and host Louisville (-4). The Salukis (+18), meanwhile, are 16 strokes behind fifth-place West Virginia (+2), which currently holds the final ticket to the championships, with 36 holes still remaining.
Southern's top golfer on the day was Peyton Wilhoit (Even), who is tied for 26th place overall. He birdied five holes, bogeyed four and took a double bogey on the 12th hole. Freshman Matthis Besard (+3) is tied for for 53rd place. Â He had one birdie, 12 pars and five bogeys. Luke Gannon (+5) and Frankie Thomas (+5) are tied for 60th place. They each had three birdies on the day.
