Javon Williams Jr. named MVFC Offensive Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Missouri Valley Football Conference announced on Sunday night that Southern Illinois running back Javon Wiliams Jr. is the league's Offensive Player of the Week, after his dominating performance in a 45-20 win at UMass yesterday.
The 6-foot-2, 234-pound redshirt freshman from Centralia, Illinois touched the ball nine times during the win against the Minutemen and scored touchdowns on three of them. For the game, he totaled 171 yards (68 rushing, 103 receiving) for an average of 19.0 yards per touch. He tied the school record for longest reception by a running back with an 85-yard TD catch, and added a 64-yard run for touchdown on the ground.
The win was SIU's fourth-ever against an FBS opponent and first since 2007. The Salukis are 1-1 on the season and host UT Martin on Saturday at 6 p.m.
