Muila to miss 6-8 weeks with torn meniscus

CARBONDALE, Ill. - SIU junior center J.D. Muila tore his meniscus in his left knee at practice late last week. Surgery is scheduled for today (Tuesday) and he is expected to miss 6-8 weeks.Â
Muila, who was rated the No. 24 junior college recruit in the nation by JucoRecruiting.com, is a transfer from Indian Hills College. In two years there, he helped Indian Hills to a 57-10 record and shot better than 60 percent from the field. He led Indian Hills in rebounding last season and had 13 career 10+ rebound games.Â
