Itchy Jones Stadium to host 2021 MVC Baseball Tournament

CARBONDALE, Ill. - SIU will host the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Tournament, the league announced Wednesday. The six-team tournament will take place May 26-29, 2021, at Itchy Jones Stadium in Carbondale.

Itchy Jones Stadium was scheduled to host the 2020 tournament, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 tournament will mark the first time since 1986 the Saluki Baseball has hosted the conference tournament. Itchy Jones Stadium underwent a $4.2 million renovation in 2014 and added additional lighting and padded walls in 2019. The stadium is named for former SIU coach Itchy Jones, who led SIU to three College World Series appearances and is the only baseball coach inducted into the MVC Hall of Fame.
