MARTIN, Tenn.— The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team will start a two-game Tennessee road trip Wednesday against the UT Martin Skyhawks. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.; the matchup will be broadcast on ESPN+ and locally on Magic 95.1, or online via Salukis All Access.
The Salukis (3-3) are coming off a victory in their home opener against Quincy University on Sunday. That victory was head coach Cindy Stein's 400th career head coaching win.
Southern has been led this season by its two 1,000 point scorers Abby Brockmeyer and Makenzie Silvey. Brockmeyer leads the team with 18 points per game, which also ranks third in the Missouri Valley Conference. Brockmeyer is also averaging 11.3 rebounds per game. Silvey is averaging 13.2 points per game, and had dished out a team-leading 31 assists.
The Salukis won their previous matchup with the Skyhawks, taking a 70-59 victory on Dec. 3, 2019. That game saw Silvey score 20 points, while Brockmeyer scored 11. Southern has won two of their last three contests against UT Martin.
SIU will follow Wednesday's game with a matchup against Middle Tennessee State on Friday, before returning to the Banterra Center on Sunday to host the University of Illinois.
