MEET HIGHLIGHTS
In his first 1000 freestyle event of his SIU career, sophomore Terry Yang earned himself a third place finish of the long-distance event, hitting the pool wall at 10:13.84.
Freshman Donat Csuvarszki, a powerhouse for the young talent on the Saluki 2020-21 squad, finished the 50 freestyle (21.46) just short of his colligate personal best.
With 12 men competing at the conference dual-meet, the Salukis saw strong talent from the rest of their freshman class: Sweden native, Gustav Persson completed a 58.84 100 breaststroke to reel in points for SIU, John Cameron swam in his first 200 backstroke event of the season (2:00.19), and the 200 freestyle relay group of freshman Csuvarszki, Yang, Yeap, and freshman Trey Smith secured second place at a time of 1:25.24, just .49 away from the Cardinals' relay.
Sophomore Sam Flessner finished strong with a 1:45.76 time in the 200 freestyle, just second to his teammate, Yeap -- in his first of the event this season.
In his tenth top title of his career in the men's 100 backstroke, Adam Cernek has earned himself a place on the wall at Ball State's home pool, as he broke the pool record in the event (50.12) -- the first new record in over 20 years. The Slovakia-native also garnered a pool record in 200 backstroke (1:49.89), while finding first-place victory in the 200 IM (1:54.57).
