WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Southern Illinois University men's golf team finished the Purdue Boilermaker Invitational in a tie for 12^th with Toledo at a final score of 891 on Saturday. Kent State won the tournament after carding back-to-back sub-280 scores in rounds two and three.

As a team, the Salukis shot for rounds of 297, 298 and 296 over the two-day tournament.

Individually, freshman Justin Wingerter led the team with his 54-hole score of 218 (74-75-69) to finish tied for 21^st at two-over par. Matthis Besard finished just one stroke shy of Wingerter at a final score of 219 (69-73-77) to tie 23^rd. Tom Cleaton closed out play in a tie for 46^th with a final score of 224 (75-76-73).

Birgir Magnusson finished in a tie for 71^st after carding a third round score of 77 to finish with a total score of 230 (79-74-77). Sophomore Josh Mackin rounded out the Salukis in competition by finishing 80^th against the field.

SIU will return to action on April 25, when they take to Flossmoor, ill., for the start of the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Championships.
