SIU Men and Women Finish in First Place at the A3 Performance Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois picked up a pair of victories and both the men's and women's team finished in first place in the A3 Performance Invitational in Shea Natatorium.
On the women's side, SIU finished with a score of 1441.5, Evansville finished in second place with a score of 529.5, Eastern Illinois finished in third place with a score of 422, Bellarmine finished in fourth place with a score of 342, Southern Indiana finished in fifth place with a score of 245, and Valparaiso finished in sixth place with a score of 214.
On the men's side, SIU finished with a score of 1114, Evansville finished in second place with a score of 656, Bellarmine finished in third place with a score of 503, Valparaiso finished in fourth place with a score of 320. Eastern Illinois finished in fifth place with a score of 283, and Southern Indiana finished in sixth place with a score of 219.
The Men's 200 Yard IM team consisting of Ruard Van Renen, Brandon Michna, Jack Khrypunovk, and Donat Csuvarszki broke the school record with a time of 1:27.06, breaking the previous time of 1:27.51 that had stood since 2012. Ruard Van Renen broke his own school record in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 46.27, breaking his previous time of 46.51. Van Renen also broke the school record in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:42.80. Celia Pulido broke her own school record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.74
Two Salukis posted NCAA Qualifying B Standard times. Celia Pulido posted a NCAA B Standard Qualifying time of 52.51 in the 100 Yard Backstroke and in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:55.97. Ruard Van Renen posted a NCAA B Standard Qualifying time of 46.27 in the 100 Yard Backstroke and in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:42.80. Jack Khrypunovk posted a NCAA B Standard Qualifying time of 1:44.55 in the 200 Yard Butterfly.
