OF JT Weber (Senior; Metropolis, Il.), who led the MVC in runs batted in (63) in 2021, was fourth in runs scored (57), was tied for fourth in hits (76) and was fourth in home runs (15), returns and will move from LF to CF.
Returning SP Noah Farmer (Senior; Metropolis, Il.) led SIU and was third in the MVC in ERA in 2021 (2.98 in 66.1 IP).
The Salukis return four pitchers who made at least two MVC starts in 2021: Farmer (MVC: 7/5 1-2, 2.18), Ben Chapman (MVC: 7/7 3-4, 4.02), Mike Hansell (MVC: 6/6 0-2, 9.19) and Tanner Lewis (MVC: 7/2 2-1, 3.86).
SIU was picked tied for third place with Illinois St. in the Missouri Valley Conference pre-season coaches poll.
OF JT Weber (2021 All-MVC first team) and 3B Cody Cleveland (2021 All-MVC 2^nd team) were chosen for the MVC's 2022 All-Conference pre-season first-team.
