Salukis host Murray State on Tuesday

The Southern Illinois University baseball team finishes its four-game homestand on Tuesday, May 3 when it hosts the Murray State Racers. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The Salukis took game one and two of its weekend series against Valparaiso to clinch its fourth MVC series win in as many tries. The Racers come into Tuesday's contest having won six of their last seven games, which includes a series win over SIUE.

- SIU, alone in second place in the MVC, took two of three at home versus Valparaiso this past weekend. SIU's RPI reached 71 Saturday but fell to 89 following Sunday's loss per warrennolan.com. SIU's NCAA RPI is 91.
- Murray St. is in 5th place in the OVC after taking two of three from SIUE over the weekend.
- SIU, which finished first or second in every key MVC offensive stat category in 2021, is 2nd in the MVC in BA, #3 in HRs, #1 in R, #1 in RBIs, #1 in hits, and #2 in Slug %. The Salukis also lead the MVC in walks and are 2nd in the MVC in fewest strikeouts.

- SIU has 4 walk-off wins this season. In addition to Rodriguez' heroics above, OF Nathan Bandy gave SIU a 7-6 win over SIUE on April 16 with a walk off RBI single. OF Jack Rigoni won the 4/26/22 SEMO game with a walk-off homerun leading off the bottom of the 11th inning.
