NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Ethan Senti headlines the Missouri Valley Championship for the Salukis with his first-place finish in the men's 8k on Friday. Senti's finishing time was 24:24.9.
"Ethan ran like a champion today. Winning a conference cross country championship takes discipline, guts, intelligence, but also the ability to get out of your own comfort zone and take a risk. Ethan ran a perfect race. We're all proud of him." head coach Brian Biekert said.
Additionally, Ethan Senti won the Elite 17 Award. The Elite 17 is awarded to Missouri Valley athletes who have the highest GPA competing at the finals for their respective sports. This is the second year in a row Senti has won Elite 17.
Rachel Anderson headlines the women's race with her third-place finish in the women's 6k "Rachel has come a long way in the time we've been working together. She has pushed her limits in training, and it shows with her performance" Biekert said. Anderson's finishing time on Friday was 20:39.0 "It was a great way to finish her MVC cross country championship career. She will have another opportunity to race again in two weeks. I expect her to carry this consistency into regionals".
The men's and women's team both finished sixth overall "Admittedly we would have liked for higher team finishes. But we leave the meet knowing they fought hard. Untimely injuries have plagued the season. But I feel like the team has come together well in order to maximize what they can do".
The Salukis will head to Stillwater, Okla. on Nov. 10 to compete in the NCAA Midwest Regionals.
