CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team (5-4) is traveling to Stillwater, Okla., on Sunday to face Oklahoma State at 1 p.m.

QUICK HITS
- Southern Illinois has posted a record of 4-1 in its last five games entering the final non-conference game of the regular season. The Salukis have allowed, on average, 60.0 points-per-game during this stretch. In the four wins, Southern has allowed 52, 55, 53, and 67 points respectively.
- In its last game, SIU defeated the reigning Atlantic-10 champions, Saint Louis, 75-67 on Saturday, Dec. 9. Southern trailed, 56-55, entering the fourth, where it out-scored SLU, 20-11.Â
- The Salukis out-rebounded Saint Louis, 46-30, in the victory. The rebound total is tied for a season-high. SIU also reached 46 rebounds against Purdue Fort Wayne on Nov. 15.
- Jaidynn Mason made her return to the Salukis this past week in Southern's two-win outing, and did so in a big way. In her first start since Nov. 11, Mason dropped a career-high 26 points against Saint Louis on Dec. 9. This was the sophomore's first 20-point game of her Saluki career.Â
- Entering the weekend, the Salukis are in sixth place in the MVC.Â
- Southern Illinois is sixth in the Valley in scoring, averaging 69.7 points-per-game. On the defensive end, SIU's 66.6 points allowed-per-game ranks third in the MVC.Â
- On the year, the Salukis are second in the Valley in turnover margin (3.33) and are forcing 21.0 turnovers-per-game, which is tied for 39th in the NCAA.
- Southern Illinois is top five in the MVC in both steals and blocks so far this season. SIU is third in steals (10.89) and fourth in blocks (3.22).
- The Salukis are tied for 41st in the country in steals-per-game.
LEADING THE SALUKIS
- Laniah Randle is sixth in the conference in scoring at 16.8 points-per-game and third in total points (151). The junior forward has scored in double-figures in eight of her nine games this season.Â
- Randle leads the Valley in rebounding at 9.1 rebounds-per-game. The average is tied for 49th in the NCAA. Randle has also posted four double-doubles (three in a row), which is tied for 30th in the nation.Â
- In all of 2022-23, SIU had six total double-doubles. The Salukis already have six as a team this season. Randle has provided four of them, while Hughes has the other two.
- Jaidynn Mason has played in four games for SIU so far in 2023-24, averaging 16.0 points, 2.5 steals, and 2.5 assists-per-game. Mason has scored in double-figures in three of four games.Â
- Quierra Love is thrd in the MVC in steals-per-game (2.4), which is also tied for 70th in the NCAA. Love has posted two or more steals in five games, but has gone back-to-back games without recording a steal for the first time since Jan. 28, 2022 - Feb. 1, 2022.Â
- Love is tied for fourth in the Valley in assists-per-game (4.4), and ranks ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.5). The senior has tallied multiple assists in every game she has played this season.
- Seairra Hughes is third in the conference in field-goal percentage (.571), and has shot at least 50% from the field in six of nine games. Hughes is also averaging 11.4 points-per-game, and has scored at least 10 points in six games.Â
- The Salukis' roster is made up of four seniors, five juniors, one sophomore, and three freshmen. SIU's four seniors are Love, Shemera Williams, Adrianna Katcher, and Sydney Prochaska.Â
LOOKING AT OKLAHOMA STATE
- The Cowgirls bring a record of 5-3 into Sunday's contest. At home, OSU is 5-0 so far this season.
- Oklahoma State has won three-straight games against Missouri State, Wyoming, and Texas State. The Cowgirls have won by at least 15 points in each of these games.Â
- OSU is 12th out of 14 teams in the Big 12. Oklahoma State is seventh in the conference in scoring (76.6) and 13th in scoring defense (67.5).Â
- The Cowgirls have four players averaging in double-figures, with Stailee Heard's 15.1 points-per-game leading the way. Anna Gret Asi (14.8), Lior Garzon (12.1), and Quincy Noble (11.5) are also scoring over 10 points-per-game.
- Head coach Jacie Hoyt is in her second season at the helm of the OSU program.
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
- Southern is traveling over 557 miles (eight and a half hours) to Stillwater for Sunday's game.
