"We are looking forward to getting the 2023 MAC Championship started this evening. This has been a special group of men, who have come together since day one with lofty goals in mind," said Head Coach Geoff Hanson. Salukis to Watch:
Ruard van Renen (Freshman. Durbanville, South Africa) - Ruard has already set multiple school and conference records in his freshman debut, and looks to carry this success into the championship meet. In November at the A3 Performance Invitational, Van Renen set the MAC Record in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 46.27 leading off the 400 Medley Relay. Van Renen currently sits atop the MAC rankings in both the 100 & 200 Backstroke.Â
Donat Csuvarszki (Junior. Bekescsaba, Hungary) - Coming off winning the gold in both sprint events last year Donat has put together a respectable 22-2023 season. He sits at the top of the conference in both the 50 & 100 freestyle events.
Jack Khrypunov (Sophomore. Kyiv, Ukraine) -  The 2022 MAC Freshman Swimmer of the Year returns as the defending champion in the 100 & 200 butterfly.Â
Adam Cernek (Senior. Turany, Slovakia) - Brought home the gold in the 100 & 200 backstroke at last year's meet and looks to make a huge impact in his final MAC Championship as a Saluki.
Lee Haywood (Sophomore, Greencastle, Indiana) - Narrowly missed taking home the gold in the 1-meter diving event at last year's championships, finishing in 2nd place with a score of 300.15. This season he ranks 3rd and 5th in the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events, respectively.
