CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois men's basketball coach Bryan Mullins announced today that the program has signed Trey Miller, a 6-foot-2 guard from Houston, Texas.
Miller comes to Southern Illinois as a transfer from Incarnate Word with three years of eligibility remaining with the Salukis.
"We are thrilled to have Trey and his family become a part of our program. Trey is a tough, talented, physical guard who can score at all three levels," Mullins said. "He impacts winning in so many ways. His work ethic and competitiveness are what stands out as separators for him. Trey has a very bright future here and is going to be a tremendous representative for this program."
Miller started 28 games for the Cardinals last season as a true freshman, averaging 10.4 points and 2.7 assists per game. He scored in double-figures in 16 games and shot 46.5 percent from the floor on the year. The first-year guard finished the season with 45 steals and had two or more steals in 13 games with a season-high six coming against New Orleans.
Miller posted great numbers at Concordia Lutheran High School. Throughout his high school career, Trey scored 1,380 points, was a four-time district champion, and was named team captain twice. In 2021-2022 as a senior, he averaged 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 4.3 steals per game, leading the Crusaders to a district championship.
For his outstanding season, Miller was named VYPE Men's Basketball Private School Player of the Year, and National Christian School Athletic Association (NCSAA) 2022 National Player of the Year. As a junior, Trey and the Crusaders went 21-5 and won the district championship. In addition, his senior year he along with the rest of Concordia Lutheran's Concert Choir, won the 21-22 TAPPS 6A Vocal Music State Championship.
