DES MOINES, Iowa -Â The Southern Illinois University women's soccer team (1-5-3) fell to Drake, 2-1, on Thursday night in Des Moines, Iowa.
"The ladies battled extremely hard against a strong Drake team," head coach Graeme Orr said. "Unfortunately, attention to detail at two occasions cost you points at this level."
Southern Illinois' best chance in the first half came in the 30th minute. Kaitlin DuCharme, off of a free kick, found Sam Dodd, who's shot was denied by Drake goalkeeper Addie Ford to keep the score level.Â
The match would remain 0-0 heading into the break. Drake had the edge in terms of shots, 8-2, through the first 45 minutes.
It took the Bulldogs just three minutes into the second half to take the lead, as Amelia Crabtree scored in the 48th minute to give Drake the 1-0 advantage.
Then, in the 54th minute, McKensey Bunch scored from 45 yards out to tie the match at 1-1. Without taking a touch prior to the shot, Bunch let it fly and the ball went just below the crossbar for the highlight reel goal. The goal was the senior's team-leading fourth of the season.
