CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University women's basketball team (6-9, 1-4 MVC) is looking to snap a two-game losing streak on Friday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Indiana State for Family Night. Â

- To watch Southern Illinois' game against the Sycamores, tune in to ESPN+ at 6 p.m. Dominic Hoscher (play-by-play), Mike Trude (analyst), and Samantha Dodd (sideline reporter) will have the broadcasting duties.Â

QUICK HITS
- Southern Illinois holds a record of 6-9 overall and 1-4 in Missouri Valley Conference play heading into Friday's contest.
- In their last game, the Salukis fell short at Bradley, 58-56. SIU conceded the game-winning shot with two seconds remaining to the Braves. Laniah Randle's 25 points were a game-high.
- Southern has been held to fewer than 60 points in back-to-back games, and in four of the team's five MVC games to start league play.
- SIU is eighth in scoring offense, averaging 65.1 points-per-game. Defensively, Southern is fifth in the MVC (67.9).
- The Salukis lead the Valley and are 30th in the nation in turnovers forced-per-game (20.5).Â
- The Salukis have allowed the fewest three-pointers in the league at 60. Missouri State, 80, is second on the list. SIU is also second in opponent three-point field goal percentage (.282) behind Belmont.Â
- Southern Illinois is second in the MVC and tied for 76th in the country in turnover margin (3.47).Â
- SIU leads the Valley and is 22nd in the NCAA in steals-per-game (11.3).Â
LEADING THE SALUKIS
- Laniah Randle is third in the MVC in scoring (17.3), third in rebounding (8.3), tied for seventh in field goal percentage (.500), tied for seventh in total blocks (12), and is tied for fourth in total steals (32). Randle has had at least 20 points in seven games this season. In those games, SIU is 4-3.Â
- Randle is 68th in the NCAA in points-per-game. The junior forward also has five double-doubles on the year, but her last double-double was on Dec. 17 at Oklahoma State.
- In all of 2022-23, SIU had six total double-doubles. The Salukis already have seven as a team this season. Randle has provided five of them, while Hughes has the other two.Â
- Jaidynn Mason is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12.2 points to go along with 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 2.3 steals-per-game. The sophomore has scored in double-figures in five games.Â
- Quierra Love is second in the MVC and is tied for 27th in the NCAA in steals-per-game (2.73). Love has posted two or more steals in nine games, and has at least four steals in five games. The senior guard has posted five steals in back-to-back games and in four games total. Love is now eighth all-time in career steals (175) at SIU.
- Love is sixth in the Valley in assists-per-game (4.1), and is tied for ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.6).Â
- Seairra Hughes is tied for fourth in the MVC in blocks, with 14 on the year. Hughes had two blocks in Saturday's loss at Bradley, her fifth game this season with multiple blocked shots.Â
- The Salukis' roster is made up of four seniors, five juniors, one sophomore, and three freshmen. SIU's four seniors are Love, Shemera Williams, Adrianna Katcher, and Sydney Prochaska.Â
LOOKING AT INDIANA STATE
- The Sycamores bring a record of 5-10 overall and 1-4 in MVC play into Friday's game in Carbondale.
- Indiana State lost its fourth consecutive game on Sunday, Jan. 14, vs. Belmont, 61-56. The Sycamores led 49-40 entering the fourth, but were out-scored, 21-7, in the final 10 minutes.
- Bella Finnegan and Chelsea Cain led the team with 10 points each in the loss.Â
- On the year, Indiana State is ninth in the Valley in scoring (64.9) and seventh in scoring defense (70.3).
- Cain's 10.9 points-per-game leads the Sycamores and is tied for 18th in the conference.Â
- Deidra Johnson is the team's interim head coach, and is in her third season with the program.Â
SERIES HISTORY
- The Salukis are 60-46 all-time vs. Indiana State, and have won 12-straight games against the Sycamores. This will be the 107th meeting between the two programs.Â
- Last season, SIU earned three wins vs. Indiana State. The Salukis averaged 73.3 points-per-game vs. Indiana State and allowed 67.0 in 2022-23.Â
- Indiana State's last win against SIU was on Jan. 6. 2019, in Carbondale (61-58).
