
Preview | Salukis Head to Evansville for MVC Championship

CARBONDALE, Ill.--Â The Southern Illinois Swimming and Diving women's team will travel to Evansville, Indiana to compete in the Missouri-Valley Conference Championship starting Wed Feb. 21 through Sat Feb. 24th.Â

The Salukis were picked to finish third with 65 points behind Indiana State (76) and Missouri State (74). The women's team went undefeated against all MVC opponents this season.Â
""We are really excited to finally be in Evansville and get the 2024 Women's MVC Championships under way tomorrow night. This team has grown tremendously throughout the season, finding success in regular season meets as well as our mid-season invitationals. However, this group is confident that our best is yet to come! Celia Pulido has led the Salukis this season with first place finishes at each meet this season and two program records in the 100-yard backstroke, and the 100-yard butterfly. This season Pulido was a two time MVC Swimmer of the Week. Olivia Herronhas also been crucial to the Salukis this season with another program record in the 100-yard breaststroke and one time MVC Swimmer of the Week this season. Herron and Pulido both had NCAA "B" times this season in the 200-yard breaststroke for Herron and 100-yard backstroke for Pulido.Â

On the diving side Farida Moussa has been key for the Salukis. Moussa has been victorious in the 1-meter dives against MVC opponents and has had top ten finishes against Power Five schools this season.Â

The preliminary round of the meet each day will begin at 10:30 a.m. CT and the finals session will begin at 6 p.m. CT. The meet will be streamed and results will be available on the Championship page, linked here.Â
