ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Southern Illinois University's Xavier Preston was named the Missouri Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Thursday. He joins Iaunia Pointer and Rachel Anderson as the other Salukis to earn the honor this season.
Preston competed in the Don DeNoon Invitational Saturday, running a season-best 6.77 seconds and winning the men's 60-meter dash. The victory was the third of his career, and the second this season.
Preston and the Salukis will head to Chicago for the Missouri Valley Conference championships beginning Sunday.
