Recap | Salukis Fall to Purdue in Weekend Finale

Trailing by as many as nine, the Salukis were able to rally with a four-hit, five-run fifth inning including back-to-back  home runs from seniors Rylie Hamilton and Sidney Jones. All five runs were scored before a single out occurred in a surge sparked by Bailey Caylor who drove  a single up the middle to get things going. Warwick followed it up with her third double of the weekend before both were brought home on a 2-run single from Emma Austin. The Dawgs were able to cut it down to 6-10 headed to the 7th.

Purdue answered however with three-runs and a home run of its own in the top half of the 7th to extend its lead prior to the Salukis final  offensive outing.Â

Madi Eberle started the game and pitched the first two innings for Southern, allowing three runs, only one earned however, while striking out a pair in the first inning. Maddia Groff came in during the top half of the third with a runner on and no outs. In 3.2 innings, Groff allowed a total of seven runs, with only three being earned.

Hamilton finished the day with a pair of home runs, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Playing in her home state Arkansas, Hamilton looked very comfortable at the plate as she went 4-for-10 with three home runs, a double, and five RBIs.Â
