News | Salukis Adjust Weekend Schedule in Chicago

Chicago, Ill. - Southern Illinois has adjusted its schedule for the weekend series against UIC. The Salukis and Flames will finish the series on Sunday, March 24 with a doubleheader beginning at 12 PM (CT).Â

After game one on Friday was originally halted in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs and a 10-0 Saluki lead, both sides have agreed to call the game final in six innings resulting in a 4-0 Saluki win.Â
Â
With the win the Salukis move to 21-4 (6-0 MVC) for their 14th straight win, currently the second-longest winning streak in the country. Maddia Groff threw all six innings allowing just four hits while earning her 14th win of the season and her eighth complete game.Â

Sidney Jones got the Salukis on the board early with a two-run triple off the right field wall. Jones leads the Salukis with two triples on the season.Â
Â
Southern Illinois and UIC will wrap up the series Sunday with both games being streamed on ESPN+.
