Carbondale, Ill. - Southern Illinois finished the weekend series with a 9-1 win in six innings over UNI as they totaled 12 hits, the most in a Valley game this season for the Dawgs.
The Salukis wasted no time getting on the board as Sidney Jones sent out a two-run shot down the right field line and out for her third home run of the season. Elizabeth Warwick started her day with a double just before Jones' home run as she continues to lead the Salukis with 13 doubles on the season.
Senior Sidney Jones leads the team with a .361 batting average, 30 hits, and 24 RBIs after going 2-for-2 with two walks, reaching base in all four at-bats in the win over UNI.
Erin Lee drove in the next two runs for the Salukis with a pair of RBI-singles, one in the second and one in the fourth in her next at-bat as she went 2-for-3 on the day.
Joining Lee with multi-hit days were Jackie Lis, Emma Austin, and Sidney Jones. Lis drove in and scored a pair of runs as she sent out her seventh home run of the season as well as notching her first triple of the season. Following UNI's only run of the day on a solo shot in the sixth, Lis answered back with a no-doubter on the very first pitch see saw in the bottom of the sixth.
Maddia Groff picked up her 16th win of the season, the most in the Valley, as she struck out six in six innings pitched.
The Salukis will travel to Bradley next weekend for a three-game series beginning Friday evening at 5 PM.
