CARBONDALE, Ill. – The Southern Illinois University men's and women's Cross-Country teams were chosen to finish sixth and eighth in the Missouri Valley Conference Cross-Country preseason coaches' poll.
The Saluki men's team received 72 points, putting them in sixth place out of 11 teams. The Drake men's cross-country team was chosen as the favorite with 15 points and received seven first-place selections.
The Southern Illinois women's team received 89 points, putting them in eighth place out of 12 teams. Bradley was chosen as the favorite with 18 points and received six first-place selections.
The Salukis' cross country season will kick off in Cape Girardeau, Mo., at the SEMO Redhawks XC Invite on Friday, August 30, at 6:15 p.m. at the Osage Center.
