CARBONDALE, Ill. - Southern Illinois' Women's Volleyball begins its 2024 season at the Betty Austin Invitational Friday, August 30, in Huntsville, Ala., hosted by Alabama A&M.

WEEKEND SCHEDULE:

Friday: vs. Chattanooga, 6 p.m.
Saturday: vs. Idaho, 11 a.m.
Sunday: vs. Oral Roberts, 10 a.m.

QUICK HITS:

Southern Illinois finished 20-12 (11-7 MVC) in 2023, where they finished fourth in the MVC and made their second-ever postseason appearance, earning a bid to the 2023 NIVC.
The Salukis were picked fifth in the annual coaches' Missouri Valley Conference preseason poll. UNI led with 141 points and 10 of the 12 first-place votes. UIC (129), Drake (110), Illinois State (98) and SIU (85) rounded out the top five.
Eight players from 2023: three outside hitters, two setters, and three middle hitters. Among the returners is Ema Stermenska, who was selected to the MVC All-Freshman team in 2023. Stermenska was 11th in the MVC in assists (673) and was fourth in service aces (48).
Anna Jaworski returns for her senior season sitting sixth all-time in Saluki history in assists (3148).
The Salukis added eight newcomers including five freshmen and three transfers. Junior Larissa Seger transfers from Santa Fe College where she placed third in blocks per set (95 total) in the Mid-Florida Conference and tallied 143 kills as a sophomore in 2023.
Head Coach Ed Allen enters his sixth season with the Salukis having passed the 700-win mark in 2023. He ranks sixth among active coaches with 705 wins.
