Soccer Hosts Indiana State on Thursday for Home Finale

Carbondale, Ill. – Southern Illinois soccer (9-3-3, 3-2-1) has just three games left in their regular season, and on Thursday, they will host their final home game of the regular season when Indiana State (6-4-6, 2-1-3) visits at 5 p.m.

Sunday was the last time soccer saw action when they hosted Valparaiso on Senior Day. The squads ended up tying, 1-1. After an early goal by the Salukis, the Beacons found an equalizer late in the first half to set the 1-1 score that stood until the end. Sophia Schlicklin scored SIU's lone goal while Nao Katamoto provided the assist on the goal.
The Matchup
Indiana State and Southern Illinois have met six times all-time, with the Sycamores leading the series 3-1-2. The two met last season in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Sycamores won 2-1. Prior to that matchup, SIU and Indiana State tied twice. Southern's last and only win came in 2022 when they defeated the Sycamores 1-0 in Terra Haute, Indiana.
The Sycamores currently sit 6-4-6 overall and 2-1-3 in conference play. They are coming off a 2-2 tie at Belmont on Saturday. Indiana State is currently on a two-game unbeaten streak, not having lost since October 5.
