How it Happened
First Half
Southern wasted no time getting on the board when Nadda cleaned up a rebound from a Schlicklin shot and put SIU up 1-0 1:19 into the game. Nao Katamoto helped corral the rebound and was rewarded with an assist for her efforts. Less than thirteen minutes later, Schlicklin put another shot on goal off a setup from Mckenna Garrett and this one made it past the keeper to extend Southern's lead to 2-0.
UNI started their comeback at the 19 minute mark, scoring to cut the Saluki lead in half. That lead disappeared at the 26:20 mark when the Panthers scored again to tie the game at 2-2.
The offenses then settled down, with neither putting a shot on goal for the remainder of the half, sending the teams to the halftime break knotted up.
Second Half
The offenses remained quiet in the opening minutes of the second half, with the first shot on goal not coming until the 52:15 mark when Nadda used a great individual effort to pot her second goal of the day and put SIU up 3-2; Aylie Haycock assisted on the goal. Schlicklin put another shot on frame less than a minute later, but UNI's keeper made the save.
Nadda went for the hat trick with less than twelve minutes remaining, but UNI's goalie made the save once again. UNI came close to finding the equalizer with less than 90 seconds on the clock, but Murray made her final save of the day to secure SIU's 3-2 win.
