CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Southern Illinois University men's golf team will head to Henderson, Nev., on Feb. 24 to compete in the Lake Las Vegas Invitational. The Salukis will playing 18 holes daily against 15 teams in a three-day tournament.
The Salukis will send a team of five and two individual golfers: Anthony De Schutter, Lucas Lasley, Leon Heitz, Oliver Ulrich, Cy Norman. Jan Wdowka and Frank Bellino will play individually.
The Lake Las Vegas tournament is being held at the Reflection Bay Golf Club. It spans 7,261 yards and is a par-72 event. This course is a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design and has played host to the Wendy's 3Tour Challenge, which featured Bubba Watson, Fred Couples, John Daly, and Phil Mickelson.
The Salukis are coming off a strong start to the spring season, during which Anthony De Schutter tied for third with a score of 204 (-9) and a low round of 65 (-6).
Cy Norman will be making his Saluki debut on Monday. Norman is a Southern Illinois Native hailing from Benton, Ill. He will look to make a big impact as the Salukis continue the spring season. Â
