NORMAN, Okla. - The Golf Coaches Association of America announced its Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar Athletes Tuesday, featuring four Salukis.
556 NCAA Division I athletes from 190 schools earned 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors.
Leon Heitz, Luke Lasley, Carsen Silliman and Oliver Ulrich were the Salukis honored.
"Over the last several years, our program has displayed that we have some amazing student-athletes both on the course and in the classroom," Head Coach and Director of Golf Justin Fetcho said. "I am very appreciative of these young men for working hard on their golf games, but also on their studies."
To be eligible for a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
Fetcho credits his players for their effort and discipline despite the rigorous travel schedule.
"In our sport, we do a lot of traveling, which requires some missed class time; therefore, it is easy to get behind if you are not staying on top of everything," he said. "These guys not only took care of their business, but they did it very well."
