ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Senior Paul Geelen has been named the Missouri Valley Football Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after Southern Illinois' 37-10 win over UT Martin on Saturday.
Geelen was 4-for-4 on PATs and made his lone field goal attempt from 28 yards which came at the end of the second quarter.
All six of the senior's kickoffs resulted in touchbacks against the Skyhawks.
In terms of punting, Geelen was needed twice and averaged 48.5 yards with a long of 53.
Near the end of the fourth quarter, the Utrecht, Netherlands, native successfully converted a fake punt by rushing for 29 yards to get the first down.
This is the first time Geelen has earned the accolade in his Saluki career.
