Men's Golf riding high as it faces next challenge at Badger Invitational

CARBONDALE, Ill. - After having a third-place finish and an individual winner to open the season, Southern Illinois Men's Golf will travel to Madison, Wisc., for the Badger Invitational Monday, Sept. 22.
The tournament will feature two other Missouri Valley Conference foes in Valparaiso and 2025 Missouri Valley Conference Champion Illinois State.
Here is Southern's starting five for tournament play: Blake Saffell will play as an individual.
De Schutter's victory in the Wildcat Invitational was the 24th tournament win ever by a Saluki Men's Golfer, and the first since May of 2024.
The Badger Invitational will be held at the University Ridge Golf Course. This course spans 7,286 yards and is a par-72 event. University Ridge was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and was opened in 1991. This course plays host to the American Family Championship, a PGA tour event since 2016.
Monday's forecast calls for 79 degrees and winds five to 10 miles per hour. There is a chance of rain in the afternoon. Tuesday will see partly cloudy skies with a high of 74 degrees and winds five to 10 mph.
