
Swim and Dive Ends Home Schedule with Women’s Win over Vanderbilt

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Southern Illinois swim and dive ended the home portion of their 2025-26 season on Saturday with a women's meet versus Vanderbilt. SIU took care of business all day long, powering their way to a 183.5-75.5 victory.
How it Happened
The meet started with the 400-medley relay, where SIU's "A" and "B" teams came in first and second. Southern kept winning moving to individual events as Lívia Munkácsi-Nagy took the gold in the 1000-freestyle. Susy Hernandez grabbed another win for SIU in the 200-freestyle.
Liseska Gallegos Gutierrez and Tia Jankovics bookended the 100-backstroke before Olivia Herron and Madalyn Booker went 1-2 in the 100-breaststroke. Another pair of Salukis finished on the 200-butterfly podium as Brooklyn Anderson and Tamara De la Torre finished first and third.
Southern pulled off a clean sweep of the 50-freestyle, and swept again in the 100-freestyle. Gallegos found herself back atop the podium in the 200-backstroke, as did Herron in the 200-breaststroke. Munkacsi-Nagy turned into another repeat winner for the Salukis, taking the crown in the 500-freestyle.
Herron grabbed one more first-place finish in the 200-IM, the final individual event of the afternoon. The meet ended with Southern's "A" team winning the 200-freestyle relay.

The Salukis now get some time away from competition before heading to Eastern Illinois on January 30 for a 2 p.m. meet.
