CARBONDALE, Ill. – The homestand continues for Southern Illinois women's basketball (4-12, 1-6) as they get ready to host UIC (8-9, 3-3) on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Southern is coming off an admirable effort against one of the best teams in the conference. On Thursday, SIU fell 87-74 against Murray State. Indya Green led the way for the Salukis with an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double. Jeniah Thompson was close to a double-double as well with 12 points and nine boards. Alayna Kraus and Kynnedi Davis hit double-digit points as well with 10 each.
The Matchup
All-time, the Salukis lead the head-to-head series 13-7. They most recently faced off in February 2025 when UIC won 62-46 at SIU. The Salukis' last win came in March of 2024 when they won 69-65 in Chicago. Southern has not won in Carbondale since 1999.
UIC currently holds an 8-9 overall record while they are 3-3 in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Flames are coming off a 66-48 win at Evansville on Friday. Before that was UIC's most recent loss, a 75-61 loss at Illinois State. UIC has been very off-and-on this season, never winning or losing more than three straight games.
