CARBONDALE, Ill. — The Southern Illinois University track and field team will open its home slate of the 2026 indoor season Thursday at the Don DeNoon Invite.
The Salukis dominated last year's DeNoon Classic, winning 14 events and recording 27 personal bests. This year's meet provides an opportunity to measure the current squad against last season's success and evaluate how offseason training has translated into early-season performance.
SIU enters the meet following a weekend of promising results at the Indiana Invitational, where the team posted 10 indoor personal bests in its first meet of the season. The two-day DeNoon Classic was originally scheduled to begin Friday, January 23, but was moved up to Thursday due to inclement weather expected over the weekend. Competition will conclude Friday.
Southern Illinois will welcome several regional opponents, including Harris-Stowe State, Lindenwood, Maryville, Missouri S&T, Murray State, and Southeast Missouri.
Thursday's schedule begins at 2 p.m. with the weight throw and will conclude around 7 p.m. with the high jump. Friday's action opens at 9 a.m. with the pole vault.
Fans can follow along with live results.
