Cooks takes home win for Salukis at Redhawk Open Performance

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO— The SEMO RedHawk Open brought strong competition to the SEMO Rec Center, and Southern Illinois University Carbondale turned in several solid performances.

Women's Long Jump

Na'Kyrah Cooks took home the win with a lifetime best of 5.55 meters.
Tiara Murray placed third in the event with a mark of 5.41 meters. (LIFETIME BEST)

Women's Triple Jump

Southern Illinois saw two athletes finish in the top six of the triple jump.

Tiara Murray placed 5th overall with a mark of 10.76m (35' 3¾").
Makenna Witham followed in 6th, recording 10.65m (34' 11¼").

Both athletes were consistent across rounds and represented the Salukis well in a competitive field.

Women's Shot Put

The Salukis had multiple competitors in the shot put, highlighted by:

Mali Thornton, who finished 6th with a throw of 12.67m (41' 7"). (LIFETIME BEST)
Maya Round, posted 10.80m (35' 5¼").
Kaylee King, reached 10.88m (35' 8½").

Women's Weight Throw
Southern Illinois continued to show strength in the weight throw:

Kaylee King recorded 11.34m (37' 2½").
Maya Rounds added a mark of 12.39m (40' 7¾").

Women's Pole Vault

Jalynn Woods and Kylee Weber tied for third with a mark of 3.55 meters.

Men's 55 meter Hurdles

Jackson Lee finished third in the event final after he won the second Heat.
