Women's Soccer Looks to Keep Momentum Rolling at Auburn

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Coming off a school record five goals the past Sunday at home, Southern Illinois women's soccer hits the road for its third game of the season to play the Auburn Tigers Thursday night.
Southern Illinois enters the match with confidence after strong offensive showing Sunday from Brooke Gosse. Gosse was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday after scoring two goals. The Salukis will look to build on their strong start and carry the same energy into their second road of the season. Salukis will face an Auburn team defending and continue building season momentum.

Preseason Honors
Southern Illinois (59) was picked fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference's women's soccer preseason poll, the league announced Wednesday afternoon. Junior Guliana Balistreri was named to The Valley's preseason team. Drake (96, seven first-place votes), Illinois State (83, two first-place votes), UIC (77) and Murray State (69) led the poll, while Indiana State (58) followed Southern in sixth.
Salukis on the Big Stage
Senior midfielder Dana Nadda attended the Egyptian National Team camp in the spring as part of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations. Additionally, sophomore Michelle Betancourt was selected to the U.S. women's national futsal team, and attended camp in July.
The Matchup
Thursday's matchup will be the first between the Salukis and Tigers.
Auburn comes into the game with a 1-0-1 record after defeating Jacksonville State 5-0 Sunday.
