Salukis Back Home for Sunday Matchup Against Alabama A&M

CARBONDALE, Ill. — Back on home turf, Southern Illinois women's soccer is set to welcome Alabama A&M on Sunday.
After two games on the road, SIU returns home looking for another opportunity to move forward early in the season. The Salukis will look to rebound after a 3-0 loss at Auburn followed by a 10-day break from action.

Preseason Honors
Southern Illinois (59 points) was picked fifth in the Missouri Valley Conference women's soccer preseason poll. Junior Guliana Balistreri was named to the Valley's preseason team. Drake (96, seven first-place votes), Illinois State (83, two first-place votes), UIC (77) and Murray State (69) led the poll, while Indiana State (58) finished sixth.
Midfielder Brooke Goose was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week on Aug. 18. The sophomore scored two goals against Western Illinois at home as part of SIU's school-record five goals that day. She leads the Salukis with four points this season.
Salukis on the Big Stage
Senior midfielder Dana Nadda attended the Egyptian national team camp in the spring as part of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations. Additionally, sophomore Michelle Betancourt was selected to the U.S. women's national futsal team and attended camp in July.
The Matchup
Southern has won the first two meetings with Alabama A&M, most recently defeating the Bulldogs 4-0 on Aug. 28, 2025.
Alabama A&M enters Sunday at 1-1 after a 2-1 victory at Chicago State on Thursday night.
